Pop of Orange

| Jumpsuit: Chica Booti | Scarf: Forever New | Hat: Sportsgirl | Sunglasses: House of Harlow | Watch: Diva | Bracelet: Sancerre | Shoes: Dr. Martens |

Orange has recently become one of my most favourable colours to wear. What colours we choose to wear is something that we disregard when faced with a large selection of coloured jeans, tops and accessories. I used to gravitate to whatever colour used to catch my eye without trying it on first, and then find myself disappointed afterwards. What I didn't realise was that it wasn't the item itself that didn't look right on me, it was the colour.

A colour that you will rarely ever see me in is yellow because it simply doesn't go well with my skin tone. Yellow looks great on people with tan skin without washing them out completely. However similar to yellow, orange is a subtle alternative that adds a pop of colour against my pale complexion. This jumpsuit and hat are favourite's of mine and since putting them on in this post, I noticed just how much I need to add an infusion of orange into my wardrobe.

On another note, last night was Vogue's Fashion Night Out in Sydney and from what I've seen and heard via instagram and twitter, it was a huge success! I couldn't make it to VFNO this year but there's always next year! Oh, and the MTV VMA's are on today! Red Carpet wise, Taylor Swift put her own spin on the 'white on white' trend of the moment, wearing an elegant white pantsuit by J. Mendel. Emma Watson is another favourite of mine, wearing a stunning Peter Pilotto dress that channeled a mixture of patterns and woven detailing. Both star's sense of style are a huge inspiration on me because they embody a class and elegance that has evolved over the years.

Chambray Shirt

| Shirt & Shoes: Sportsgirl | Jeans: Bardot | Hat: Vintage | Bag: Zara | Scarf: Rubi | Sunglasses: House of Harlow |  Bracelet: SanCerre |

One of the many ways that I love to wear an oversized chambray shirt is as an unbuttoned jacket paired up with some leather jeans. Finish the look off with some sporty heeled sneakers and a fedora hat for the ultimate laid back attitude. The one piece of advice I have for wearing a chambray shirt is to style it in a way that represents your own personality. There's no right or wrong when it comes to individuality, and we should celebrate that in our own personal style.

Tomorrow is officially the first day of spring in Australia! Which makes us thismuchcloser to summer! I've been building up one heck of a summer wardrobe so fingers crossed that it will be one full of endless sunny days and very little rain. Speaking of spring coming up, I did a bit of spring cleaning last week as my inbuilt wardrobe was installed into my room. It feels so much more better to coordinate outfits with the ease of having it practically laid out in front of me. Ultimately...I'm just glad that the days of forgotten clothes hidden within reach are over!

Girl With The Sunglasses

| Jacket: Dotti | Scarf: Jeanswest | Jeans: Forever New | Sunglasses: House of Harlow | Bag: Louis Vuitton | Jewellery: Thomas Sabo |

As you have probably noticed from reading my blog, I have a huge obsession with sunglasses. These large House of Harlow Rachel sunglasses are nothing short of protection and offer full coverage of the eye area. The addition of a snake-like texture adds to the pleasing aesthetic properties of the sunglasses and is on trend with all the recent pieces I am seeing making an appearance on the runway that are inspired by the "reptile skin" look.

The leather jacket I conveniently found at Dotti after seeing a similar Phillip Lim 3.1 take on the white leather jacket. Stay tuned for my next post that will feature Whitney Port's line Whitney Eve for Sportsgirl!

Prep.

| Coat: Sportsgirl | Shirt: Bardot | Skirt: Zara | Belt: Chica Booti | Hat: Forever New | Boots: Steve Madden | Bag: Louis Vuitton | Sunglasses: Sabo Skirt |

My three new obsessions in this post: Steve Madden ankle boots (a perfect staple item for many future outfits) and an extremely warm coat from Sportsgirl that just so happened to match this hat I picked up from Forever New on the same shopping trip. I can't seem to get enough of this Zara skirt and can honestly say that I got my money's worth based on the amount of times I have worn it. Buttoned shirts are another item that I have been fixated upon these past couple of months as their simplicity makes them an ideal piece to pair up with jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses or even layered underneath a great knit.
Did anyone else watch the 2012 Teen Choice Awards that aired in America on July 22nd? I must admit that I was looking more forward to the pink carpet to see what everyone was wearing rather than the awards show itself. I know, so typically me. I was super impressed by the looks that my favourite stars opted for, my favorites being Selena Gomez in a DSquared2 dress, Taylor Swift in a Maria Lucia Hohan gown and Victoria Justice in a Gomez-Gracia gown.
Sadly, the semester one break off uni is coming to an end so I'm going to be hitting the books once again. Hopefully the workload won't completely distract me from posting!

Until my next post,
Monica 💗

Back To Basics

| Leggings: Bondi | Hat: David Jones | Knit: Ksubi | Shoes: Converse | Bangle: Louis Vuitton | Shorts: Bardot | Sunglasses: SaboSkirt |

I thought I would go back to basics in this post. Obviously, I am loving this new Ksubi knit which is great to pair with just about anything if it wasn't for its electrifying red colour. The shorts I bought back a while ago because of their ragged appearance mostly. What item of clothing are you obsessing over this season?

Leather Pants & Cut-outs

| Knit: Ksubi | Denim: Bardot | Necklace: gifted | Shoes: Dr. Martens | Ring: Diva | Sunglasses: SaboSkirt |

Earlier this week I went shopping in Bondi Junction and I swear this knit just jumped out at me. The detailing of the cut-outs make it a distinctive stand-out amongst all the knits that I'm seeing this season. Sure, you could purchase three or four knits at any chain store for the price of this one but I can guarantee you that the silhouette or fit will not be as flattering. The truth of the matter is that if you invest your money into a good quality item, your bound to get more wear out of the piece.
I found these jeans in particular to be a great imitation of the "leather" look without being totally restrictive and uncomfortable. Fashion doesn't always need to hurt, it's important to not only look good but feel good wearing couture` too!

Guess Jeans

| Knit & Hat: Sportsgirl | Jeans: Guess (Find a similar one here)| Scarf: Forever New | Sunglasses: SaboSkirt | Shoes: Lipstick |

From the moment I could walk my mum would accessorise every outfit of mine with an Oshkosh or Fred Bear hat, and so the obsession began. This one from Sportsgirl in particular is one of my favourites to date. The addition of colours coming from the scarf and the hat instantly gives an outfit of winter staples a more autumn appeal, and you would be surprised how it quickly it can change the gloomy state of a winters day into one just a little more warmer.
I can't tell you how much I love these Guess jeans--the washed out fabrication of the design   a perfect addition to its authenticity. Comfort is definitely a selling point for me, and I found that the amount of elasticity in these jeans made it appear as fitted as your regular pair of skinnies without restricting movement. The crimped texture in my hair was a result of having my hair braided for a whole 24 hours and then taking it out to reveal the natural beach waves it left behind. This is a great alternate method to applying heat if you have fine hair like me because I unfortunately know the damaging effects of heat exposure on the hair after years of using the hairdryer. The natural thickness of my hair is starting to grow back thanks to the combination of moroccan oil treatment with a moroccan and argon oil shampoo and conditioner which I posted about in my top five beauty buys here.
